“It takes great strength to reflect and decide to begin the healing process. I appreciate how difficult it can be to begin therapy. I strive to create a safe atmosphere and trusting relationship with each individual. There is much more to you than your past experiences or current personal barriers. I am curious to get to know you as a whole person, including what brought you to therapy and also your strengths, goals, and values.
I work with individuals on a wide variety of concerns, including depression, anxiety, anger, trauma reactions, major life transitions, self-image, and relationship conflicts. I also enjoy working with individuals with autism (and other developmental disabilities) as well as their loved ones.
I personalize my approach for each individual; however, a strengths-based perspective underlies all my work. I believe in a holistic approach, with emphasis on the mind-body connection and practices such as mindfulness (or “grounding”). Through the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I will help you recognize unhelpful and untrue thoughts about the world, others, and yourself.
So often these thoughts are automatic, and we become stuck in patterns even when we deeply wish to change. I can also help you locate and empower the parts of you that are ready to make a change with strategies such as motivational interviewing.
I sincerely look forward to working with you and/or your family.”
